I always wanted to be a traveler. Just never had the means to be one. Till a couple of years back I had never left my country. Then,an opportunity came knocking and I moved to Hong Kong for a well paying job. It changed everything. I saw places I never thought I would and gorged on an unbelievable array of foods and wines. Along the way, I met loads of people who made these experiences unforgettable. This is a log of all those experiences. Cheers to the beauty this planet beholds, both man-made and natural. So much still to see, eat and drink ; so much more to experience.Hope to be a traveler forever!!!!

Tokyo - Of Sake, Sushi and Sakura !! : Tokyo.. What can I say? A city of supreme contrasts. From the ultra modern to the Edo-style rustic, it's an overpowering experience. Be it the beautiful cherry blossoms @ Ueno/Nakameguro or the freshest fish @Tsukiji, the neon lights of Kabukicho or the wildchilds of Harajuku, the swanky Ginza or the overwhelming tube system, Tokyo is a world very different from our own. It's a society from which numerous people have taken inspiration but which has itself continued to look inwards. There is nothing like it.

Rome-Of Gladiators, churches n pasta : "The Eternal City" lives up to its name. Unlike most cities, where you visit certain sections to admire its beauty, the whole of Rome is an architectural marvel. From the ornately designed piazzas around every corner to the magnificience of Vatican, Rome is a city to behold. The summers are very Indian, blazing hot and the chaos of the city/repeated warnings to take care of your belongings reminds me of my country :) The best way to experience Rome is to walk to admire the little things that most tourists would miss. Rome is definitely very high up on the list of "101 Place to See Before You Die". Simply MAJESTIC.

Beijing/Xian-Enigmatic n mysterious : The thought of going on a vacation to China ALONE was a bit daunting at first. But, I had gotten pained of waiting for friends to agree for trips. So, I decided to go ahead, come what may. And with the help of a couple of friends in Hong Kong (I got lost on my way to The Great Wall)and a few words of broken Mandarin that I had learnt, it turned out to be an amazing adventure. No trip of China is complete without Beijing and Xian, and like any other traveler starstruck by its ancient wonders, I duly obliged. Beijing came across to me, as a city going further and further away from its rich heritage. Having said that, a trip to The Great Wall (paucity of time led me to go where most TOURISTS go; The Badaling Great Wall) and Forbidden City takes your breath away. They were designed to inspire awe amongst common people who saw them and that's what they do to this day. Simply fabulous. Leave alone the architecture and the extreme conditions in which they were built; simply standing on the long snaking wall with no end in sight or the huge courtyards of the Forbidden City makes you feel like a speck. Xian, the cultural capital of ancient China, is well known for the Terracota Army. Again the size of an Army 2 millenia old crafted with such detail leaves a great impression on your mind. They are simply MAJESTIC. It was one of the most memorable trips I ever had.

Hanoi - Good things never change : I decided to visit Hanoi this Easter. In the beginning, I was a bit skeptical, but Hanoi surpassed all expectations. Its quintessentially a city stuck in the past, especially the Old quarter. Women still carry stuff to sell on their shoulders wearing straw hats, the best food is the one you eat by the roadside, noone feels the need to follow traffic and its a cheap shopping paradise !!! Its chaotic but there is an amazing beauty to that chaos which leaves you breathless.
Halong Bay, on the other hand is a place MADE for a postcard. 3000 islands, numerous fishing villages and amazing rock formations. You need to see it to believe it.
